First I would like to thank the talented Miss Holly Luiken, who took these lovely pictures with my littles and I. She is ridiculously talented and you can follow her IG @hollyluik.

There are so many oils that I use all the time but I am often asked, "What's your favorite? What oils do you use the most? What are your mama go-to oils".... there are a lot of oils I use on a regular basis... But if I had to narrow it to just 5 of my most used... These would be it.. They are supportive to both me and my littles. So here goes.

Balance: This is my most used mood blend that supports me and my babies both physiologically and emotionally. The warm and woody aroma of the Grounding Balance blend creates a sense of calm and well- being.  This is a blend of Spruce, Ho Wood, Frankincense, Blue Tansy, and Blue Chamomile with Fractionated Coconut Oil make this warm woody fragrance a favorite. The Spruce wood has emotional profiles that promotes tranquility and relaxation. Ho Wood, Blue Tansy, and Blue Chamomile can ease anxious feelings, while Frankincense provides a grounding, balancing effect on emotions.

 Uses:

  • I love to use Balance when giving a massage or doing an Aromatouch.

  • Apply to your wrists or neck to help ease anxious feelings.

  • Diffuse in your car during road trips to create a calming, soothing environment.

  • Make a toddler tantrum tamer blend with 10 drops of Balance, 10 drops of Serenity, and fill the rest with Fractionated Coconut oil.  Apply along their spine and bottoms of their feet.

  • Apply over your heart and back of neck before bed and when needing to take a deep breath and relax.

  • Diffuse with 2 drops of Serenity and Wild Orange to promote calming feelings and support a serene atmosphere.

  • Apply to back of neck or over the heart before your yoga practice.

  • Apply to the bottoms of your little ones feet before bed and when they need some extra calm in their lives.

Frankincense:  This is one of my favorites!!! Known as the "King of the Oils", its one of the most prized and precious essential oils, Frankincense has extraordinary health benefits. Used for centuries for its healing benefits, the Wiseman brought baby Jesus Frankincense and Myrrh. The ancient Egyptians used Frankincense resin for everything from perfume to salves for soothing skin. This centuries-old knowledge contributes to the modern uses of Frankincense today.  It's amazing calming properties to the central nervous system, healing benefits to the skin, and support of cellular health to promote your overall wellness are just some of a few reasons as to why its such an amazing oil. I love to put a drop under my tongue in the am  for immune boosting, and add a drop to my moisturizer.

Uses:

  • Rub Frankincense on your hands after a long day of working outside or doing hard labor for a warming and soothing effect.

  • Apply topically to help reduce the appearance of skin imperfections. I add a couple drops to my moisturizer daily for skin support.

  • Can be applied to the bottoms of feet to promote feelings of relaxation and to balance mood.

  • Take one to two drops in a veggie capsule to support healthy cellular function. I love to add Copaiba and Lemon in addition and support my immune system.

  • Diffuse with Wild Orange and Siberian Fir for a beautiful, warm inviting and uplifting aroma.

  • Make a 10 ml roller with 10 drops of Frankincense, Onguard, Lemon, Melaleuca and Oregano and fill the rest with Fractionated Coconut oil and apply when threats are high to the bottoms of feet and back of spine.

  • Make a 10 ml roller with 12 drops of Frankincense, and 12 drops of Marjoram, and 12 drops of Copaiba for soothing relief for tired joints.

*Note: this blend is made for adults. For toddlers, I use 4 drops of each of those oils in a 10 ml roller and apply topically.

Lavender: This is known as the "swiss army knife" of oils for most mamas.
Lavender has been used and cherished for centuries for its unmistakable aroma and myriad benefits. In ancient times, the Egyptians and Romans used Lavender for bathing, relaxation, cooking, and as a perfume. Its calming and relaxing qualities, when taken internally, continue to be Lavender’s most notable attributes. Applied topically, Lavender is frequently used to reduce the appearance of skin imperfections. Add to bath water to soak away stress or apply to the temples and the back of the neck. Add a few drops of Lavender to pillows, bedding, or bottoms of feet to relax and prepare for a restful night’s sleep. Due to Lavender’s versatile properties, it is considered the must-have oil to have on hand at all times.

Uses:

  • Add a few drops of Lavender to pillows, bedding, or bottoms of feet at bedtime.

  • Keep a bottle of Lavender on hand to soothe occasional skin irritations.

  • Freshen your linen closet, mattress, car, or the air by combining Lavender with water in a spray bottle.

  • Take internally to reduce anxious feelings.*

  • Use in cooking to soften citrus flavors and add a flavorful twist to marinades, baked goods, and desserts.

  • Add a couple drops to fractionated oil to apply to skin abrasions and irritations...

  • Before one may have to experience something that may cause anxious feelings. Take 2 drops in a veggie cap to provide support.

  • Use with Lemon, and Peppermint to support one that may need respiratory support, especially during times when seasonal threats are high.. such as spring. I take 2 drops of each oil in a veggie cap internally.

Onguard: This guy is probably one of the most popular blends of all. I often hear people mention this oil if they have limited knowledge of oils. doTERRA On Guard protects against environmental and seasonal threats with essential oils known for their positive effects on the immune system when ingested. This powerhouse blend of Wild Orange, Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, and Cinnamon Leaf make it super effective and supportive. doTERRA On Guard can be taken internally on a daily basis to maintain healthy immune function and support healthy cardiovascular function. It can also be used on surfaces throughout the home as a non-toxic cleaner. When diffused, doTERRA On Guard helps purify the air, and can be very energizing and uplifting.

Uses:

  • Add two to three drops in a veggie capsule for an immune boost.*

  • Add to water for an effective all-purpose surface cleaner.

  • Soak sliced apples in water and a few drops for a healthy, immune-boosting snack.*

  • Take a 10 ml roller and add 10 drops Onguard and then fill with FCO and roll on spine and bottoms of feet or use as a hand sanitizer.

  • Diffusion: Use three to four drops in the diffuser of your choice.
Internal use: Dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid.

Peppermint: this is the oil that grabbed my attention and I fell in love with for so many reasons and I enjoy using all the time. . Its so supportive to mood, alleviates tension headaches... aides in stomach digestion, and is perfect before a hard workout. It is frequently used in toothpaste and chewing gum for oral hygiene. Peppermint also helps alleviate occasional stomach upset and promotes healthy respiratory function when taken internally. I use Peppermint every single day multiple times for a variety of things..

Uses:

  • Use a drop of Peppermint with Lemon in water for a healthy, refreshing mouth rinse.

  • Take one to two drops in a Veggie Capsule to alleviate occasional stomach upset.*
